At Valley Birds Disc Golf Co., our journey began with three friends who shared a love of disc golf and an ice cold beer. The idea for Valley Birds ignited at a cozy taproom in Visalia, where bartending turned into bonding over good drives, hitting trees, and buying new discs.

Cal kickstarted his disc golf adventure at the age of 10, falling head over heels for the freedom it offered and the beauty of the great outdoors. Cal’s energy and enthusiasm is a driving force in getting Valley Birds to fly.

Nick, inspired by the arrival of his son Logan, discovered the sport and dove in like a pro. He was soon competing in local tournaments, proving that passion can indeed turn into love of self-competition and the camaraderie the sport brings.

Jay joined in on the fun, armed with nothing but a curious spirit and a growing obsession for testing out the newest discs on the market.

Game after game, they forged unforgettable memories, but it was Cal’s dog Banjo who truly became the heart and soul of Valley Birds. A loyal companion, Banjo reveled in every moment spent outdoors with the guys – he knew where to lead them to the next hole and had a knack for finding their lost discs after a bad throw.

When Banjo passed away in 2024, it was a tough blow for the trio. Yet, through shared grief and honor for their friend, they grew closer than ever, solidifying their commitment to the sport and each other. Every throw, every round, and every toast to the good times now echoes the spirit of Banjo.
